2. A. Almost to the cave entrance

We start on the trail and look back to see if we have made any progress: we have--

From the same spot we also look forward and decide that someday we will also walk up into this canyon, just to see what is around that far bend to the left:

Why is this sign here? Because the cave is up and to the left from here, and some might actually think they deserve a shortcut. But not me, I like trails!

WE know the trail is only a half mile long, but because it is rather steep it also seems a bit long right about here, but the views up close and ahead stay interesting:


This is as close as we get to these rock structures, that is a switchback just ahead:
Just before the entrance to the cave, the views are very nice, first up the canyon (the yellow areas are burned out, see the Slaughter Canyon photo pages for the story and details):

Then we look straight down.

On the next page, we will peek through the gate for a look into the cave.
