A Half Day in Semmering

Part 3: The high street (Hochstrasse) of Semmering

Now we walk the upper, main street of the town of Semmering together.  It was raining lightly, so there was no one in the playground:

Soon we walk past the large resorts on this street:

Next I am quite taken with this church:

But the street I am on is wonderful in and of itself:

Looking back to the small mountain I have just descended, it looks like there is another cloud coming over its very top:

The view into the valley below is also very nice, here one of the tunnels that belong to the Semmering Railroad is visible:

But time is now getting short and I must push on to see the little red-roofed building at the other end of town, and finally I see it in these trees (but the photo does not show it):

A few more steps and I see it clearly:

Across the street is a hotel with these views:

Now it is time to hurry back to the railroad station far below and catch the train to my next destination.  The walk to the train station from here is worth its own page, as is the ride down on the train.
