Part 4: Back to the railway station
The trail back to the railway station starts from the upper road here:
It is a delight to walk through this greenery!
Soon enough the trail takes us to a dirt road that takes us to the train station, and here we look back uphill toward the main part of Semmering from that road:
Although I was not in a hurry, I couldn't help but admire a few flowers along this trail:
I made my train with 7 minutes to spare! The next page will show some of the ride down on a stretch of railroad that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site because its maze of bridges and tunnels represents a marvelous engineering feat for the 19th (or any other) century.
