Part 2. Flowers and trees, mostly.
Walking away from the sculptural brain-teasers of Part One, we next came to and were impressed with the sculptures in front of the Parliament building: no interpretations will be attempted, but it seemed that Greek and Roman myth were also alive and well here.

Looking a bit more closely, we can see that the older man with the paddle has now found himself a woman, rather than a mermaid, as companion, and they have two lovely children with wings? Oops, maybe there is something about the parentage of these children she is not telling him? No fool like an old fool they say, but they all look very happy, which is all that matters!

From here, the tower of city hall is visible (see one photo up), and that is our next stop:

This is as close as we got to city hall. The tree whereunder I am standing for this picture next catches our total attention, it is beautiful!

:The flowers in this park are also worth a look:

But what lies just across the street? The Peoples Park or Volkspark!

It has some really nice views and flowers too:

But soon our mission is accomplished, we have stayed awake the whole day and move closer to home where we see the Danube Canal meeting the river in the city:

And looking upstream into the canal, we see that it is not navigable as it approaches the river here (but it is earlier as it splits from the river):

That U-bahn in the foreground is a reminder we are not even close to home yet, home this time is the Strandhotel on the Old Danube, a very nice place to stay.
Just down the street from the hotel is this view of the older part of the river, in fact:

The water in this part of the river is very clear:

Next it is time to run some of this water, preheated, through a shower and get ready for work the next day. One of the working days was spent on the 25th floor of the International Atomic Energy Agency building in the Vienna International Centre complex of buildings. The next page shows some of the views from the window in the room where I worked. (Note that working days tended to be sunny!)
