PART 2b: A Walk to the Third of Three "Emerald Pools"
![]()
From the second pool one rises on a steep trail toward this cliff. At its bottom lies the third and highest pool:

Starting up this trail afforded a look down at part of the second pool:

Soon after come nice views of the walls of this side-canyon closing in a little. Here is a view of the south wall as we go up:

And several views of the north wall as we go up and look back:

North and south walls are fine, but there is also the central cliff we are approaching:

Finally the trail takes a steep dip, and we are face to face with the cliff beneath which the pool lies:

As we approach the pool it is surprising (to me) how many people are here:

The pool looks like this, it is the larger of the three and does have an emerald hue:

The cliff above the pool is impressive:

Starting back down is rather pleasant in places:

Coming down we are facing the opposite side of the canyon which also offers nice views (a bit of telephoto magic in the next picture).

We are now on our way to see the first (lowest) pool (next page).
