1. Park Avenue

Our first stop in Arches National Park was Park Avenue, which is named for its stately walls and colums and does sort of resemble an artist's abstraction of a very big city street dumped into the wilderness.
First the right side of the street:

Then the left with a remarkably balanced rock:
And now we look down the street to its end:

Turning around now allows a view of the La Sal mountains (a serious mountain range with a number of peaks over 12,000 feet above sea level):

After Park Avenue, and fearing the end of daylight, we hurried on to see Delicate Arch and then at a more leisurely pace went to the Devils Garden and Windows areas of the park where we thought the sun would linger longer.
