February Red Rock Visit

PART  FOUR: Driving South to the End of the Loop

That western boundary of the Red Rock canyon is quite spectacular, and we enjoyed getting a slightly different view every few minutes or less as snow showers would intensify and then ease up:

Finally, just before getting back on the highway to Las Vegas (an extension of Charleston Blvd) we crossed a creek with water flowing in it, a drainage from one of the western side-canyons that are such a delight to hike in when weather is just a tad better.

This is the view to the east (toward Las Vegas, except the water never gets there above-ground, it sinks into the ground before it gets to the highway, but it no doubt contributes to the underground water budget for the Las Vegas Valley below):

And this is the view to the west, toward the cliffs of sandstone that stand like sentinels here (with over-riding limestone mountains behind them and in some places on top of them):

And so our little Red Rock adventure ends for the day, hope you enjoyed it with us.

If you want to see more of Red Rock, here is a previous hike I took

Also, a flyover in a commercial airliner coming from San Francisco to Las Vegas.
