Part One
Starting from the Interstate 84 turnoff and up to the bridge between the upper and lower falls.

Taking Interstate 84 eastward or westward through the Columbia River Gorge is always a pleasure. But on this mid-April day my grandaughter, Aubree, and I decided to get out at the I-84 turnoff for this spectacular place within that gorge and hike to the top of the falls (on a paved trail, not too dangerous, although it was a bit slippery in places since a very light rain fell all day long).
From the Multnomah Falls parking lot on I-84, the falls looked like this:

Our goal for this page is to get to and just beyond that bridge, the second one, in the background. To get there we passed some nice scenery. Like the lower falls from below that second bridge:

As we approached that bridge we were pleasantly surprised by this little side-flow:

From roughly that same spot, but the other side of the trail, the bridge and lower falls looked like this:

Closer to the bridge and using some magnification the upper falls looked like this:

To my surprise, when I got home and began to work with these photos I realized there were no pictures of that bridge without Aubree, and those are not posted on this site. So, no pictures of the bridge.
However, I did take some photos from the bridge looking back at the Columbia River in its gorge:

Once off the bridge we were on our way to the top, and saw sights such as these:

But now we are well on our way, and that is the subject of a second page, linked below.
