A Rainy Day in May Visiting Auvers sur Oise

From the top of the town's bridge the river still looked wonderful, especially downstream.
Upstream it looked like this:

Downstream like this:

And from below, the bridge looked like this:

I was quite careful stepping onto the steep access ramp that allowed me to bypass the trees along the side at this location:

Speaking of those trees, there were fun shots to take from outside, then inside these poplars:

There was some traffic on the river. First a freighter:

Then a patrol boat:

Then several ducks:

All good things must come to an end, so when it was time to go home to Paris, I took a self portrait to prove I was here:

On the way into Paris, from the train, I spotted an old friend, the Sacre Coeur cathedral on the Montmartre hill in Paris I just climbed to the top of a few months ago (See Life in 2005 Item 10) [Sorry about the fuzzy picture: the train was moving]:

And in a restaurant with 'de Liege' (='van Luik,' which is my last name, in French) in its name, I was served this wonderfully colored veggie pizza as my last supper in May in Paris: early the next day I was heading home.

My wife says that picture is enough to make one sick. If that is the case, here is an antidote: A bouquet from the north bank of the Oise river, just for you!

that gives you hay fever instead of nausea? I am so sorry.
