A May Sunset in a Beautiful Place

Part 3: Back to the Lake on the Way Home

The light in the woods was wonderful as I had hoped.  The next day it rained and I went to Auvers-sur-Oise.  So this evening's sunset was my last opportunity for the duration of this trip.

Walking back to the lake I thought I would not see anymore sunset effects when I got there because the sun was essentially at my level while I was still walking east:

The flowers being illuminated here reminded me of the same flowers in field around my childhood home in the Netherlands:

With the sun now so low, I high-tailed it back to the lake.  The same lake as before, but this time at its southern end. You can see why it is called Lake Inferior here, where the water from the higher Lake Superior to the south spills into it:

Just to the north of this little fall the Eiffel tower was visible on the horizon:

From this vantage point the tree tops around the lake were wonderfully lit up by the sun's last rays:

Walking around the south end of the lake, it was quite dark in the trees:

But just light enough (with a little help from photo-manipulation software) when out in the open to get a parting shot at the lake:

In this last photo you can better see what we also saw at the north end, the island dividing the lake in two from top to bottom (what may look like a strucure to the right of the island was a tour boat I just could not catch in a picture--too far and too fast):

So, then it was quickly home (=hotel) to rest up for the next day's rainy adventures in Auvers.
