
One Afternoon's Sight-Seeing

So I ended up at the Stalingrad Metro station and saw this very broad and nice canal there:

I walked up one side and down the other to see a neighborhood at play in movie theatres, snack bars, and parks:

Note that when there is water, kids want to be in it:

That starnge looking building at the very end of the canal has seen better days, but it looks like it is receiving some restorative attention.

It was time to start hoofing it back, needed to eat and pack and sleep some for the next day's homebound flights:

From this grander canal I walked back to the Republique Metro stop along the smaller canal and saw more parks and more locks:



All in all it was a very nice walk through some of Paris' more ethnic neighborhoods. My Indian vegetarian plate was fabulous, and very inexpensive because I was off the typical tourist paths.
