Zugspitze

Page 1 left us approaching the clouds.

These towers carry power lines up to the Zugspitze!  Can you imagine being a lineman on this project?

Approaching the clouds gave some nice views:

Once in the clouds it sounded like someone was throwing gravel on us, but it was just ice falling on us, the gondola was scraping it off the cable carrying us:

This was our docking slot in the rock:

I enjoyed my short walk on top.  It was short because soon a man came after me telling me they were loading.

Had the weather been sunny and clear, what would I have seen?  This:

But I thoroughly enjoyed what I did see, and was able to take a picture or two on the way down, like this one of hiking/skiing and 4-wheel drive trails above the treeline:

Once back on the ground I just missed seeing the last train of the day coming down this track:

I was now in a hurry to get to my last destination for the day and for this trip: the Neuschwanstein castle (this is a not a natural color photo, it was part of an advertisement on top of the Zugspitze):
