Death Valley & Environs

Destination 3:

Ubehebe Crater

Part Two: First Maar to the South

This is the trail up to the south maars:

The next photo is the road not taken, to Little Hebe:

A little more to the right you can see the bottom of this little maar:

Walking up along the rim of this smaller crater, to the right, have a nice view back to the main crater:

If you look beyond the rim of the main crater you see some greenery, indicating water, in the canyons to the east, here is a better view: the canyon to the right is where Scotties' Castle is (next destination):

But on the rim of this little crater, or maar, was a real treasure: flowers!!  Including the desert five-point!

Flowers like this leave me speechless, so join me at Scotties' next and I'll see if my voice is back!

Return to Ubehebe Part One, if desired

If not, go to Scotties Castle via the next link

4.     Then we visited Scotties' Castle.

5.     The Devils Hole Workshop Field Trip took us out of Death Valley into Amargosa Valley to see some recently mapped faults.

1.     We took a walk on a salt flat just for fun.

2.     We took a drive through Titus Canyon just for fun, but I was the only one having any fun.
