March: South of France

A Short Trip with Multiple Destinations:

Destination 2:  Millau and Its Bridge

Part Two: Leaving Millau, Views From Under The Bridge

As the sun rose, we moved west.

To our delight, we were told that we would be stopping for a photo opportunity under the bridge.  On the way to the bridge there were nice views (but taken from inside a moving bus):

Under the famous Millau bridge we stopped to take a look.

My first look was back to the east to see if the gorges were still visible: barely so-

We are at this point under the bridge, and as the sunlight brightens the views do too, here looking south:

Here looking up:

And here looking north:

It is claimed that this bridge saves north-south drivers at least an hour and a half over the previous route (this is not the only new bridge on this route, the A75, but it is the newest and tallest.

As the bus took us away, there were still more nice views to be had:

Now we are really on our way to our third destination, the Underground Research Site near Tournemire.
