One thing that can be counted on in the Basin and Range province is that there will always be
a next range of mountains if one is traveling east to west, or since these ranges are a bit off north and off south,
even a north-south trip will cross a few. The next two shots are portions of the Shoshone Range:

Leaving the Shoshone Range and entering back into the desert gave a nice view of a river carrying precipitation and snowmelt from the higher elevations into the basin to the west:

A distant look at the Paradise Range, and another westward view from the crest of the Paradise Range are presented below:

One more range was crossed before reaching US highway 95 where the dark race home began. It was too dark to take effective photographs in that range. It was not a range with trees, much drier than the ones pictured above, with sandstone formations giving color to the steep western slopes.
In the US 95 valley north of Tonopah there was more light than in the mountain range to the east of that valley, and the very last rays of sunshine relflected off a few cloud-bottoms as well as off one tall peak from the dry range that state highway 361 crosses to get to US 95.
