As we rose in elevation, from just over 6,200 feet where
we parked to about 7,500 feet (estimated) where we turned back, the canyon
got steeper and more interesting:
The canyon also showed signs of life, like deer in the woods (seen but not shown), and snowmobiles (heard, seen, and shown):
But nearer the 7,400 foot mark the sunset, combined with the first sidecanyon and very high peaks (one above 10,000 feet, some higher up in the canyon are above 11,000 feet but we didn't see them), made for a very interesting setting:
