UPPER CARPENTER CANYON

The first thing that strikes you as you park at the top of the road in the canyon is the clear water of the creek you have either parked by or parked across.  

There are gurgling little falls:

Then, upon closer inspection, you are surprised by the presence of small trout in the creek.

The creek supports interesting varieties of vegetation as well, including this indigenous Red Columbine (next two shots):

Of course Columbines were not the only flowers:

Alas, it is now time to descend about 4,600 feet and re-enter the heat!  But great vision-delights await us in the desert below, trust me, I already took the pictures so I know.
