Limoux is where Beatrice was running away to. She never made it, she was arrested with her lover Barthelemy in Mas-Saintes-Puelles while on their way here. Her sister Gentille lived here, and in the Fairytale I have her finding peace and contentment here with her sister after she is released fom jail.

Today it is a nice small town with a square and a church that has pieces, such as the rear of the building, dating back to Beatrice's time. Oh, did I mention I arrived at night in quite a downpour?

The bridge over the river Aude is quite old, and some portions of the buildings next to the waterfront show the stone of the ancient ramparts.

She did visit a church there, with her sister Gentille, and confessed her sins to make herself seem more Catholic. The church she chose for this occasion still stands, quite magnicently so, and is called the Notre-Dame-de-Marceille. She came here with Gentille, and went to confession.

The door that Beatrice and Gentille used was this one, although this art work may have been more recent.

Behind a cage stands a statue of a madona with baby carved out of native wood in the eleventh or twelfth centuries. It is this ancient work of art that makes this church a destination for pilgrims.

The view upon exiting the church is onto a park that may or may not have existed in the time of Beatrice and Gentille. Its condition, as well as the condition of the church, indicate some tender loving care is being expended here.
